Every generation is supposed to be in a better financial situation than the last. We want our kids to have better than we did. I am Gen X/older Millenial, and my grandparents grew up in the depression. My parents were baby boomers. My dad was in the Air Force and my mom was a cafeteria worker at the public high school. My parents had a 4 bedroom house, 2 cars that were replaced with a new one every 3 years, and they could afford to send me to boarding school/private schools. I moved out at 17, worked 2 jobs, started a family when I was 20. There have been times where me and my spouse both worked 2 jobs each, and still couldn't manage. My partner got laid off in 2014, no notice, no warning- showed up for work to the factory locked up with a note saying they had shut down. Benefits gone, and no final pay check. He had worked there 15 years. House gone to foreclosure by this event. Our kids who are in their early 20s have nothing to show for our hard work. We can't pay for them to go to college, we can't help them buy a new car, we can't help them with their rent. Because we can't afford our rent, and our cars are 30 years old. Kids were more than welcome to stay living with us, but they wanted their own places, which I understand. I am always buying them whatever I can to help them. But it crushes me that I couldn't afford to give them what I had growing up. It's not supposed to be this way. It makes many of us feel like a failure as parents, but I think my generation doesn't want to admit it. I think Gen Z kids are great. I think they have been dealt a bad hand to start out in life. They watched their parents work for nothing- why would they feel motivated to do the same?

As an American though, I do understand what they're saying, it's that we're too feckless and fractured to actually do anything about it, we just sit around and complain. You can't just vote your way out of this death spiral, or you'll be in the exact position we're in, having to choose between two genocidal maniacs with almost identical policy goals as right wing populists exploit the genuine frustration of the disenfranchised pulling us closer to fascism while the only other party just steals their policies and complains about the cruelty of it as the overtime window moves further and further to the right where today someone as objectively far right as Reagan would be called socialist. We need to organize, learn how the political system actually works, which is from the bottom up. From a group to take on your state first, change the voting laws there to enable people to actually have a choice that matters. Next, actually run for office, again starting at the lower levels up to the state level. Our generation is finally reaching the age that we can actually hold higher offices at the federal level. If you want something better, we have to actually make it happen, you can't just sit around and wait for some old guy to give it to us, because they never will, and it's not just up to the president, you need an entire government from to to bottom open to those goals to get radical change like that done. That or the guillotine Tldr; they're not moving our healthcare, they're mocking our laziness

I'm a low man on the totem pole but I've been a low man for 10 years at this company and I've proven my value numerous times so I've been invited to work on special projects and look behind the management curtain. It is mind blowing how incompetent some managers are, thay they don't know the basics of the work yet are somehow tasked with improving the efficiency and profits of the work. The managers often get offended when they ask for input and I say "this change seems like going backwards and will reduce production" or "what I observed in that meeting was middle managers lying to the executive, the work teams are not doing the tasks you just said they are and im curious about the evidence you have that those tasks are being done." And they look at me like I am on a different planet. Of course my perspective isn't the God given truth but I sure as shit do know what tasks are and aren't being done by the team I am on. The point is, some people are actually imposters in their jobs. If you think you are because of a tiny miniscule screw up here and there or you missed one deadline by a few hours, you're not an imposter, you onow you're good at what you do. The imposters are real and you're not one of them.

I work for two different companies. The owners both ask me daily how to export PDFs and how to edit word docs etc…. It’s insane how little these boomers and gen x business owners know about tech and they refuse to learn… yet continue to make big money. Meanwhile I have all the skills they do PLUS I can obviously do more and I get paid by the hour. It’s so stupid and incredibly unfair.

I run payroll and there's basically a direct correlation with how incompetent someone is and their salary. The business development manager has brought in literally no business ever. Man works part-time and takes himself out to 2+ hour lunches when he does come in. Can't figure out how to reboot the printer. 120k and quarterly bonuses. Y'all need to negotiate your salaries with the confidence of a mediocre white man.

You all think all the government spending was great, UBI, government programs etc...to me, it showed exactly why you don't do crap like that...cause now prices on everything has gone up 50-100%. The government is not your mommy, they should pave roads, provide a military for defense, and set rules for us to play by. Not actually play the game...because they screw it up with currency mismanagement.

I wish people would learn to criticize a country’s government instead of its people. The people, as a whole, are victims of a meticulously built system that is currently operating the way it was designed to. Max profit for those on top. We the people currently don’t hold the power because of fighting between us and propaganda spread by government officials. Voting alone won’t work, the system was built to suppress and overturn votes. The people in control are old and out of touch. Something bigger needs to happen to motive people to set aside their differences and focus on the bigger issue. This can apply to other countries too. I see a lot of Americans being racist to Chinese people instead of criticizing their government. They think the CCP is doing real communism when the truth is so much darker

This is exactly why I thought Americans are against taxes so much when I first heard about taxes not being added to the price of an item in grocery shops. Where I'm from the price you see on a product is the price you pay - no thinking about taxes which are perceived as an ADDITIONAL cost. Same with the salary - when you apply to job you usually are being offered a salary after taxes. So you see exactly what you'll get and you see exactly what you'll pay.

I appreciate this video. I am heading to my mid-40's and my 40's have been much better than my 20'sand 30's, when I cared way too much about what other people thought of me. I recently completed my bachelor's degree in education and have way more confidence than I did in my younger years. I have embraced my graying hair (my mother quit coloring her hair in her early 40's when she became a grandmother and my 72 year old mil still tries to look younger by dying her hair unnatural looking colors). While I am not in the best physical shape of my life, I do plan on working on that in the very near future. I do surround myself with real people and influencers who help me to feel better about myself and encourage me to be who I am without having to fake it. I am mentally more stable and not nearly as anxious as I was when I was younger. I am proud of my recent accomplishments and can't wait to see where the future takes me.
